What defines a radical life? Think about Jesus's life. . . and think about a life lived in 2012.

  1. I think living a radical life is not about living a successful life. I think that it involves helping other people, and making other people happy in a way that they will always remember. I think it is important to use the gifts you have been given to affect the people around you.

    1. Yo whaddup marg. I totally agree with you!! putting others happiness before you always results in great things. When you help others out then people will learn from your good deed and do the same thing to someone else! If you set a good example to others then they look up to you, and want to do the things you do that make others happy :)

    2. I agree with your ideas. I agree that living a radical doesn't have to be a successful one, and I also think that it means that you are making choices to help others that are far outside your comfort zone. Living radically is living a life where you take a risk to help someone else in need.

  2. Someone who does something that is out of the norm,
Someone who is making a difference or trying to revolutionize a certain field or way of life. Jesus lived a radical life because he introduced novel religious ideals and practices and challenged old ones. He broke the Sabbath rules by healing a dying man, he made people aware that the Son of Man has the authority to forgive sins on Earth and he established that even sinners should be included by spending time with them

    1. I agree with what you said Anjali! Jesus lived a very radical life because he did things that had never been done before! If we could all be fearless in a way and live a radical life, then I think amazing things could be done!

  3. To life a radical life is to be different, extreme, and life changing- even if you only change YOUR life. To be a radical is to go against society and what everyone says is the "right" thing. In this day and age, to be a raidcal is to have your own ideas and thoughts- to live your life the way you want to. Being a radical doesn't mean you change the world, only your way of thinking.

  4. I think a radical life is living on the edge. It is living to the fullest and doing something out of the ordinary. Being a radical person one must make there own path and decisions. It is also going against the norm or the expected. Leading a radical life is not negative, it is just different.

  5. I think that living a radical life means doing things for the sake of others and caring about the well being of another person. Also, making self sacrifices and making life changes for others, as Jesus did.

  6. Living a radical life is not conforming to the rules set by society. When someone goes with their instincts and ignores the standards that are seen to be the norm, they have done something new, radical. This is what it means to live a radical life. Challenging boundaries and pushing people to think in a way that they haven't before is radical. People have preconceived sentiments towards what should be acceptable, but when someone challenges this and does something that may be seen as taboo, they've have broken the mold and started living radically. This is how Jesus lived. He took what people knew and made them think about it in a new way. He would answer their questions with questions of His own. His questions would cause the people to find new understanding of their beliefs by finding and developing their own answers to their questions. Jesus challenged laws and rules, an example would be when He healed someone on the Sabbath. He brought new meanings to rules and beliefs through His radical life.

    1. This perfectly sums up what I could not put into words when I tried to think about this question. In today's life, I really do believe that living radically does imply breaking through boundaries set by society. So many people are afraid to break taboo, but to live a radical and amazing, life it is important to let nothing stop you.

  7. Going after what you believe in, what you're passionate about, makes a radical life. Trying to reach a higher purpose than just shooting for things you want and instead look at what you think needs to happen in the world to make it a better place. It can be big or small changes you make, it doesn't have to be huge. I saw this movie called "The Cove" about dolphins in Japan being taken from the ocean and sold to water parks. The ones not chosen were slaughtered. Things like this make me want to take radical means to change horrific incidents like this.

  8. A radical life like Jesus lived is one in which we put our beliefs before anything else; society's norms and rules have no precedent over what we feel will make a positive change in the world. Jesus did just this, putting love and compassion before the rules of the Pharisees. A radical living person will not conform or back down, just as Jesus showed.

    1. I completely agree with you. But I would dare say that a radical life is not necessarily one driven by compassion alone. Instead, it is like you said a life in which we put our beliefs before anything else. Isn't being a radical today dangerous? Even if it is just to be radically kind.
